  • 3rd Marlow Beerfest 2018 Friday 1 – Sunday 3 June 2018 Marlow Football Club

    See https://www.marlowbeerfest.co.uk/our-beerfest Friday 1st June - 4pm to 10pm, Saturday 2nd June - 12pm to 10pm, Sunday 3rd June - 12pm to 4pm.

Our beer committee has been working very hard on the beer & cider selection. It is a tough job, but someone has to do it! We aim to have range of traditional beers and ciders from breweries that would not normally feature in pubs in our area, plus a couple from our local Rebellion brewery. We hope we have something to suit all tastes, and for the non-beer drinkers, our clubhouse bar will be open to serve a selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks.

The live music has been very popular and we will again play host to several local bands over the weekend. Headlining this year will be the Wycombe Steel Orchestra who proved to be very popular with drinkers last year. We will also be showing a selection of silent movies in the clubhouse to give you something to watch while you taste the beer.

In addition to the beer & cider, hot food will be provided by our in-house caterer - Carol's Kitchen. They will be serving food especially designed to soak up the beer - burgers, pasties, bacon sandwiches, sausage rolls and much more.

The Marlow Beerfest is held in the clubhouse and grounds of Marlow Football Club, and there will be plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. So don't worry about the weather - just enjoy the beer. Click here to see the 2017. Marlow Football Club Beer List. Watch for the 2018 beer list.

  • Kent Rail Micropub Trail Saturday 2 June 2018 11:00 St. Pancras Mainline Station

THIS IS A BRANCH SOCIAL led by Alan Molloy (07864 020570).

As you are probably know, Kent has the highest concentration of micropubs in the country.

"Fueled by Beer" is coming and his Blog is far more professional than my effort - have a look: https://fueledbybeer.wordpress.com/2018/05/07/kent-rail-micropub-trail/

We will all meet at St. Pancras mainline station at 11am to catch the 11.25 South Eastern train to Faversham. It will take 15 mins at least to walk to whole concourse down to the National Rail ticket office, which will have a mega queue, so we need to use the East Midlands ticket Machine, yes I know Faversham is not in the Midlands but it will sell you a ticket. The Super Off-Peak Day Returns costs £23.30 and allows you to leave the train at each station and get back on! I suggest you wait for all the group to be present, because two of the people coming have Network cards giving a group discount. Once we have tickets we need to walk, with the Nation Rail ticket office in front of you, to the right, the high speed trains go from platform 11 which is up an escalator.

We shall be stopping off at Gravesend, Strood, Gillingham, Rainham, Sittingbourne and finally Faversham, to visit some of the best micropubs in Kent. They are all in GBG 2018 and in each case no more than 5/6 minutes walk from the train station. I have allowed 1 hour for each micropub, but that includes the walking. If it is too rushed I will just get as far as we get. They are all excellent, but small, They should all have 4 to 6 ales on + 1 to 5 ciders at £3/3.20 a pt. & approx £3.50 a pint for cider.
