  • Kent Rail Micropub Trail - Part 2 Saturday 24 November 2018 09:45 St. Pancras Mainline Station

THIS IS A BRANCH SOCIAL led by Alan Molloy (07864 020570).

As you probably know, Kent has the highest concentration of micropubs in the country.

We will all meet at St. Pancras mainline station at 9.45 outside the Nation Rail ticket office to catch a South Eastern train to Faversham/Ramsgate. It will take 15 mins at least to walk to whole concourse down to the National Rail ticket office from the tube station. We will use the Super Off-Peak Day Return which allows you to leave the train at each station and get back on! I suggest you wait for all the group to be present, because 3 or more travelling together can get a Group Save ticket discount of 34%. Once we have tickets we need to walk, with the Nation Rail ticket office in front of you, to the right, the high speed trains go from platform 11 which is up an escalator. We will catch the 10.22 and I anticipate we will be back at 21.20.

We will start our tour at Whitstable, (Black Dog & Hansome Sam) moving on to Herne Bay (Bouncing Barrel & Parkerville) then Margate (Fez, Two Halves & Harbour Arms, if time allows) to visit some of the best micropubs on the North Kent coast. There is a JD for food in Margate. All are in GBG 2019 and in the worst case no more than 15 minutes walk from the train station. I have allowed approx 50 mins in each micropub, excluding the walking. If it is too rushed we will just get as far as we get.

The above Micropubs are my selection after my DRY run!
